What Washington doesn't understand about conservatives and change.

First, let me apologize for being so long between postings.  I have had so many thoughts running through my head it took me a while to whittle it all down to what I thought was worth saying.

I have heard a lot of reporters talking about McCain's attempt to steal the "change" mantra from Obama this week.  They all seem confused that the floor of the RNC would cheer McCain and Palin for their promises of change.

What they don't understand is that we conservatives have been thirsting for change since, well, since shortly after Reagan left office really.  We all thought that the real enemy was the Dems, that is why we worked so hard in 2000 to elect Bush and again in 2004 to re-elect him and claim the House and Senate.  We thought that sending Republicans to Washington would help turn America back to the conservative principles that we felt were lost during the Clinton years.

What we learned between 2004 and now is that the party FAILED us.  The President, the House, and Senate had a mandate from the people to fix immigration, energy, security, and the economy.  They let us down, and completely demoralized their base in the mean time.
I had worked tirelessly as a precinct leader, on campaigns, and on the 96 Hour grassroots efforts in all elections between 2000 and 2006.
In the end, the politician played politics with our good will and let us down.  That is why I quit working for and donating to the party.

The fact is that I believe McCain will do some good as President.  At least he will hold back the tide of uncontrolled liberal spending and martyr support systems.  I think he is a good role model against "poor me" victimhood.  That said, he isn't promising the kind of rock solid return to conservative principles I am hoping to see in Washington.

However, McCain has become the catalyst for real change.  By bringing Palin onto the national stage and hopefully to Washington, I think there is real potential to return to a nation led in Reagan style.  Palin for VP is the first step to Palin for President.  I really hope that Sarah is as tough as I think she is.  She will have to be in order to maintain her reform ways in Washington while she waits for her run at the highest office in the United States.

In the meantime, we need to be scouring our neighborhoods, PTAs, and City Councils in search of true conservatives with the same eye for reform and help them move up the political ladder.  Maybe, just, maybe in eight years we could see real reformers filling the White House, the Senate, and the House.  Also, maybe we can find real judges who respect the wisdom of the Constitution and put them on benches from the top to the bottom.

That is a beautiful vision for America's future.  The opposite side of the coin is not so pretty.  If Obama is elected and he appoints even more liberal judges to the bench, we will see the end of Democracy.  I don't want to see my children inherit a nation run by 5 elitist judges appointed for life.  I want my kids to have the same freedom to dig deep, work together and fight for the best America we can be.

More than a song...

Today as I heard Gretchen Wilson preparing to sing our National Anthem my thoughts turned to "the other National Anthem", God Bless America.  I have sang that song all my life, but today I uttered it as a most sincere prayer.

Some people, most on the left, would condemn such a tune saying God should bless everyone.  The song doesn't say God Bless Only America.  Furthermore, America blesses so many other nations.  We need God to "stand beside her and guide her" because she is the most powerful nation in the world and if she falls, liberty falls for most of the world.

So, please join me in praying for America by singing that little old song to yourself and to whatever God you believe in.

Don't forget to watch Sarah tonight.  She is scheduled to speak between 8 and 9 Mountain time tonight.

UH OH! The left's "Pro-Woman" Mask is Slipping!

It is hard to know where to begin today.  I was born in 1972 and I grew up completely unaware that there was a glass ceiling.  I believed from the time I was 5 that I could grow up and become President.  So, it seems clear that the "Women's Liberation" movement has accomplished what it set out to do.  The problem with any movement is once it gets rolling, it is hard to stop.  That is why some women who have been caught up in the feminist movement continue to scream for special treatment.
Another problem for feminists is that any who still believe they are being discriminated against are "victims" who need to have someone to blame.  Kids are an easy target, especially unborn ones.  How can they protest?  How can they demonstrate that they make most women better and more mature?  Well, Sarah Palin comes walking on to the national stage with four of her five kids in tow and says she can be Vice President!  For the feminist, HOW CAN THIS BE???
Now, the media is claiming that Sarah's daughter is proof that abstinence doesn't work.  I am confused...was this an immaculate conception?  Abstinence works when it is freely chosen by ourselves and our daughters.  My daughter knows I am 100% Pro-Choice, choose to wait, or choose the consequences.  She knows that if she becomes pregnant, we will embrace her and her child and her child's father and do what we can to help the navigate the accelerated growth curve they would be facing.
Women, there is plenty of discrimination in the world to fight, but not here in America.  We have to turn our thoughts, prayers, money and muscle to the women in other countries who aren't looking up at a glass ceiling, they are under the boots of cruel and sadistic men and governments.
I think most American women know and understand this.  That is why Sarah Palin is the most exciting thing to happen for women in a long time.  She exemplifies all the grace and beauty of her feminism with all the strength and character of her Americanism.  Sarah Palin is just one more woman, balancing work, family, faith, and real life worries and tragedies. She is America and she will get my vote for VP and with any luck, in four or eight years she will get my vote for President!!

On a total side note, KUDOS to our Republican Governors all over the south.  You shined like the stars you are.  Maybe not like the Rock Star Obama thinks he is, but like real stars that sparkle in the darkness of the night.  I hope the media can set aside their politics long enough to give you the recognition you deserve.

TTFN,
Nycki

My favorite Palin twitter

jstrevino on twitter offers this Little Known Fact:

"Sarah Palin's son is going to Iraq after the Surge, because a Palin during the Surge would have been unfair!"

Prager parallels Palin with Thatcher

Be sure to listen to the last 20 minutes of Prager's show today.  He lays out really big shoes for Sarah and I bet she will fill 'em!  He declares she will be the next Margaret Thatcher.
